Great detailed information.
This book gives almost every detail about every Buick model ever made. I started at the beginning to track the evolution of the brand but this is very well suited as a general reference book about Buicks. My only issues are occasional typos and the lack of pictures for every model in every year. Highly recommended!

Great Book
This book is everything that it claims to be. It has all the facts and figures one would need to identify and option a Buick of any year. it would be improved slightly by having a few less typos, but they are few and apparent and do not detract from the authority of the information supplied. Some more black and white identifying photos would be another improvement, but where would you stop? All in all a great resource for the Buick Fan.

Great replica. Fantastic detail.
If you were a fan of the show "Highway Patrol" with Broderick Crawford you'll remember the 1955 Buick Century Special that was used in the show's first two seasons. This car was made especially for the California Highway Patrol and was easily recognized because it had four portholes and not three as the civilian versions. The TV series leased the cars from the CHP for the show and placed a generic insignia over the CHP's seven-point star. This car is a spot-on replica of the CHP version. The detail of the CHP star and exempt plates is incredible. The only thing missing is the 8-meter whip antenna.

Well Made
Very pleased to see they still make scale model cars like they did when I was young.I was sort of surprised at the craftmanship.Down to the tiniest detail it was more than I expected.

The "Highway Patrol" Car
I bought this because I collect model cars of the 1950s and I wanted to add some sort of Police Vehicle to the lineup. There are not many available and the problem with the others is that the manufacturers generally use 2 door pillarless hardtops as a starting point and paint them in Police Livery. This is not the way these cars appeared on the streets.Hardtops were expensive and usually only top-of-the-line offerings; Fairlanes, Bel-Airs, Belvederes, Roadmasters, etc. This car is, as it should be, a Plain-Jane two-door pillared sedan and would have been Buicks lowest price offering. It wears standard black sidewall tires and plain hub caps (with trim rings) as it would have in real life.I'm not sure if the Centurys had four portholes on the side or not, but I like them. The model itself is modest. The Hood and front doors open. The engine is nothing special, just black plastic. The paint is a little sloppy, but it's still a...

Buick & how General Motors lost it's way...
In the 1950s and 1960s GM had an over 50% + share of the market place in the USA. It was so successful that there was the constant threat of anti-trust action to break up the company. Looking through the book, BUICK 1946-1960 PHOTO ARCHIVE, one can't help but notice how aggressively styled these cars were. Whether or not one appreciates these chrome laden land yachts today, one has to consider GM at least took a chance by making cars that stood out from the crowd, and thereby enjoyed great sales success. Unlike the GM line up of today, all of which unfortunately seem to be patterned after the late not-so-great Chevrolet Cavalier, which should have been named the Cadaver. GM in the past was run by automotive stylists and engineers, with the result that it produced world class cars that were tremendously popular. Today GM is run by MBA cost accountants who do not appreciate things automotive, and the result is a boring line up of look-alike appliances. GM has already euthanized...

Trip down memory lane
This book brought back quite a few memories I had of driving the 50's Buicks and Oldsmobiles. Although about half were made before I was born, and the other half graced show rooms when I was still an infant, when I became old enough to drive, these chrome laden cars were all a young guy could afford. We grew to love these cars, and especially the classic Buicks of the 50's. It is so great to see a book that pays tribute to these beautiful vehicles that even to this day put a smile on my face when behind the wheel. I show pictures of these cars to younger people today, especially tweens and teens, and it is so cool to see their jaws drop. They just can't get enough of how these cars rode, what they sounded like, the feel of real metal and chrome. The sound of those big V8 and straight 8 engines. Many are amazed to learn that these cars of the 50's and late 40's could be had with everything from power windows to air conditioning. Those big bumpers, and especially the early 50's...

Product Description

This new book highlights General Motors oldest division during some of its most successful and exciting years, 1946 through 1960. When World War II ended in 1945, Buick was champing at the bit to forge ahead in the sales race with its reputation for size, prestige and straight eight cylinder power in every model. By 1954, Buick succeeded in reaching third place in sales, ahead of Plymouth. But after a few heady years among the sales leaders, some unfortunate styling decisions in 1957 and 1958 would topple Buick from the leadership pedestal. Share these heady days of growth and success for an American automotive icon with superb quality original factory photos from the time when Buick was one of America’s most popular automobiles. Relive the arrival of 'ventiports’, Dynaflow drive, sweep spears of chrome, and all of the other Buick trademarks that became part of the American lexicon.

Great gift!
I gave these to my brother who loves his immaculate '96 Buick Roadmaster Stationwagon. He recently got new aftermarket wheels and I thought these would just top them off. I didnt think he'd be so excited because hardly anyone will ever see them but he was super stoked and loved them.
